SKB is modernizing the Spa Health Institute

Modernization works have started at the Spa Health Institute in Ustroń, which belongs to the American Heart of Poland. The renovation includes not only existing buildings, but also the introduction of new technologies, the purchase of modern medical equipment and the improvement of infrastructure. Thanks to this, patients will receive a higher standard of treatment under the National Health Fund.

Health resort Ustroń is a rehabilitation center and sanatorium famous throughout Europe. It owes its popularity to the diverse offer of health services, its unique location in the heart of the Silesian Beskids and its unconventional architecture.

The modernization includes both construction works and the purchase of equipment, including modern medical equipment. There will be, among others, a primary health care clinic and five specialist clinics (neurological, gynecological, lung diseases), a magnetic resonance imaging laboratory, and a cardiology clinic will be expanded – says Agnieszka Zielińska, Project Manager of American Heart of Poland.

Unused space of the UIZ building with an area of over 1.2 thousand. m² within the investment will be allocated for the needs of inpatient departments and treatment facilities. This will allow for increasing the number of beds in the cardiac, neurological and systemic rehabilitation departments and improving the operating conditions of the pulmonary rehabilitation department.

The treatment base will also be expanded: physical therapy, kinesitherapy, hydrotherapy, cryotherapy, lymphatic massage and balneotherapy laboratories, as well as diagnostic facilities of the facility.

– After the modernization is completed, patients will use comfortable, fully equipped single and double rooms with access to bathrooms. In separate isolation rooms and intensive cardiological supervision stations, in addition to new beds with anti-decubitus mattresses, there will also be new diagnostic and treatment equipment. The facility’s treatment base will also be equipped with modern equipment, explains Agnieszka Zielińska.

The Spa Health Institute in Uzdrowisko Ustroń is a facility to which patients have access under the National Health Fund.

Analyzing statistical data, we can see that Uzdrowisko Ustroń maintains an average bed occupancy rate of 96% throughout the year, which proves the high demand for its services. One of the points of our mission is to ensure a high standard of services within the public health care system. The modernized centers in Uzdrowisko Ustroń are as good as in terms of quality. The American Heart of Poland Group always focuses on high quality of services provided. The innovative solutions and improvements introduced respond to the needs of patients and are consistent with global health care trends, says Adam Szlachta, president of the American Heart of Poland Group.

The contract for general contractorship of design, construction and installation works was signed with American Heart of Poland’s partner – SKB LDR. SKB LDR has 34 years of experience in the construction of industrial and health care facilities, especially hospitals. He has completed renovations and reconstructions of facilities such as: Municipal Medical Center. Dr. Karol Jonscher in Łódź, Pediatric Hospital. Dr. J. Korczak in Łódź, Kutnów Local Government Hospital and Covid Hospital in Łódź. Currently, SKB is also rebuilding and modernizing the Specialist Hospital in Brzeziny. Work on the UIZ facility in Ustroń requires exceptional coordination from the General Contractor due to the historical nature of the facility.

The renovation is carried out with respect for the Beskid nature, the heritage of modernist architecture and with a view to increasing the standard of treatment and sanatorium stays. The reconstruction of the UIZ is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2025, and its most important effect expected by patients will be an increase in the standard and safety of therapies. In the near future, thermal modernization of the building and modernization of the technological line for the mud and brine kitchen are also planned.
